A MEMORABLE FIRST EVENING

A memorable first evening for Callaho Warmblood Sport Horse’s maiden online auction!

Yesterday evening saw the closure of the initial eleven lots of Callaho Warmblood Sport Horses’ maiden online auction, and what an exciting evening it proved to be. As anticipated, the online auction platform worked seamlessly; bidders and spectators couldn’t help but get a little swept away by the clock counting down as the bids racked up.

The offering last night included nine top sporthorses and two rather special broodmares, with the auction beating targets for this first eleven. Callaho Larentino (Larison/Valentino/Condor M), the stand-out lot in the first section of the sale was the highest performer. Since bidding opened on Monday, this top gelding’s price has slowly crept up and bidding closed last night on a fantastic R500,000 with an impressive 36 bids. With mother Valentina, as well as all three of her offspring, being awarded a full three stars for jumping, and Larison contributing huge quality, it is impossible to argue that a price like this was not well deserved by this exceptionally talented youngster.

Callaho Valkyrie (Victory For Ever/Fürst Nymphenburg/Falkland) – the opening lot of the sale – was another headline for the evening attaining 17 bids and reaching a healthy price of R240,000. This gelding looks set to excel, having inherited Fayenne’s floating and expressive dressage paces, and Victory’s beautiful mind, flawless rideability and raw jumping prowess.

Callaho Larando (Larison/Calando 1/Capitano) – the immaculate grey gelding - was similarly successful at a rather fetching price of R240,000. This brave horse with textbook technique, out of foundation dam G-Cerise and by Callaho’s wonderfully multi-talented stallion, Larison, looks set to wow the South African sport scene.

The other sporthorses auctioned yesterday evening were Callaho Carradine (Carnaval La Silla/Monsieur AA/Pilot); Callaho Condé Rebelle (Con Coriano/Lissabon/Quidam De Revel); Callaho Syanne (Sampras/Ramiro Z/Gotthard); Callaho Toledo (Tolano Van’t Riethof/Guidam/Landadel); Callaho Summer Love (Sampras/Cassini II/Aimé Z); and Callaho Vidaro (Victory For Ever/Espri/Ramiro Z). All sold for great prices, each endorsing the fact, once again, that even with consistent interest, this is a buyer’s market with quality ripe for the picking.

The two broodmares of the evening Callaho’s Guilliana (Guidam/Landadel/Grannus) and Callaho Ramona (Ramiro Z/Libero H/Pilot) went at a steal of just R80,000.

We wish all new owners great success and happiness with their high-quality steeds and look forward to another entertaining evening beginning in just a few short hours, with the next eleven lots. We’ll see you there!
